Chelsea legend Claude Makelele is reportedly in talks to take over as manager at Championship side Cardiff.

The former Blues midfielder left his previous managerial role this week after taking charge of just three games.

However, he appears to be the latest in the queue to replace Erol Bulut, who was sacked by Cardiff on September 22.

Whoever Cardiff decide to appoint will face a tough task given the club currently sit bottom of the Championship.

The Bluebirds have won just one of their nine Championship games this season, that victory coming against Millwall, under caretaker manager Omer Riza.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, Makelele is in talks to become Cardiff’s manager.

Makelele was appoint manager of Greek side Asteras Tripolis last month and has won one and drawn two of his three games in charge.

However, the former midfielder has decided to resign due to dissatisfaction with the club’s executives’ interference.

Makelele previously coached Bastia and Eupen.

Interestingly, in 2017 he worked for Cardiff’s rivals Swansea as an assistant to Paul Clement.

He later returned to Chelsea as a youth coach and technical advisor.

Makelele enjoyed a highly successful playing career, UFABET winning trophies with Chelsea and Real Madrid, while also winning 71 caps for France.
